To become a parent is a dream that remains unfulfilled for many individuals despite heroic attempts to realize it. When women experience the tug of their biological clocks, in vitro fertilization (IVF) is a last hope.

The design objective was to create the most comfortable, relaxing environment possible, yet be mindful of diverse cultural issues and tastes, in a patient population that includes celebrities, those of orthodox religious belief, potentates from far away kingdoms, supermarket clerks to corporate executives. The stakes are high, and nerves are on edge.

The room was an awkward space, long and narrow, with a window at the end. The custom area rug, curve of the ceiling soffit and reception desk create a visual illusion that transforms an 8’ x 40’ space into something far more graceful.
